SunnySide, a new and innovative game, combines various genres such as farming, crafting, dungeon-crawling, cooking, creature-battling, and romance into one cohesive package. The game draws heavy inspiration from the popular game Persona 4. The concept of SunnySide was born from the creator, Siavash Shahlaei, also known as Rainy, who wanted to capture the atmospheric essence of games that inspired him during his childhood.

Harvest Moon: Save the Homeland was a pivotal game for Shahlaei as it was the first game that made him appreciate the scenery and ambient sounds within a game. This appreciation was later reignited when he played Persona 4, which evoked similar feelings. With SunnySide, Shahlaei aimed to recreate the cozy and nostalgic small Japanese town vibe that he experienced while playing Persona 4.

In addition to the atmospheric inspiration, Persona 4 also influenced SunnySide’s approach to social systems and character development. Sydney Stockdale, the studio co-president and narrative director, looked to Persona 4 and Fruits Basket for guidance on creating interesting characters and developing them in unpredictable ways. The romance aspect in SunnySide was particularly inspired by Persona 4, where emotional attachment to characters was fostered through their individual stories.

For fans eagerly awaiting the release of Persona 6, SunnySide offers a unique opportunity to engage with a diverse cast of characters and embark on romantic or friendly relationships in a similar narrative style. The game presents a fresh take on the immersive storytelling and character development found in Persona 4, providing players with a new world to explore and connect with.

SunnySide stands as a testament to the power of inspiration in game development. By blending elements from various genres and drawing influence from iconic titles like Persona 4, the creators of SunnySide have crafted a rich and engaging gaming experience. Players can delve into a world that captures the essence of beloved classics while offering a fresh and exciting gameplay experience.
