AT&T and Verizon are currently facing an outage that is causing dropped phone calls across the United States. According to a post on X, AT&T has confirmed that there is an issue impacting completing calls between carriers. Meanwhile, Verizon spokesperson Kevin H. King stated that while the network is “operating normally,” customers in the Northeast and Midwest are experiencing issues when calling or texting customers served by another carrier.

The exact start time and cause of the outage are still unknown. Downdetector charts from Verizon and AT&T indicate that the problems may have begun around 2PM ET. The Federal Communications Commission (FCC) is also investigating the issue. In a statement on X, the FCC mentioned that they are aware of reports of consumers in multiple states being unable to make wireless calls.

This recent outage is not the first time that AT&T has faced service disruptions. In February, a massive outage affected thousands of customers nationwide. Following the incident, AT&T issued an apology and offered affected customers a $5 credit.

AT&T has assured that carriers are working as quickly as possible to diagnose and resolve the ongoing issue. On the other hand, Verizon has maintained that its network is functioning normally, with only certain regions experiencing call and text-related problems.

The current outages experienced by AT&T and Verizon in the US are causing disruptions for customers attempting to make wireless calls.
