The Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has seen a surge in popularity in recent years, with successful feature films and upcoming season releases. However, while the franchise is thriving, there are some aspects that could be improved upon.

One issue with the Sonic Prime: Season 2 storyline is the overly complex plot involving the Shatterverse and alternate dimensions. The premise of finding Prism shards in different Shatterspaces inhabited by alternate versions of Sonic’s friends can be confusing for younger viewers and casual fans of the franchise. A simpler and more straightforward plot could enhance the overall viewing experience.

Another critique of the Sonic series is the lack of diversity in the characters. While Sonic himself is a beloved character, the absence of Sonic variants in the multiverse can make the show feel repetitive and limit storytelling opportunities. Introducing new and diverse characters could inject fresh energy into the franchise and attract a wider audience.

The pricing of Sonic Prime: Season 2 at $20 for eight episodes may be a bit steep for some viewers, especially considering the complexity of the plot and lack of character diversity. Lowering the price or offering more content for the same price could make the series more accessible to fans of all ages.

While there are other Sonic series available for fans to enjoy, such as The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog and Sonic Underground, these shows also have their own set of flaws. The weird and goofy nature of The Adventures of Sonic the Hedgehog may not appeal to all viewers, while the musical theme of Sonic Underground may not resonate with everyone. Sonic X, while an anime series, may also feel outdated to some viewers given its original run from 2003-2005.

While the Sonic the Hedgehog franchise has enjoyed success in recent years, there are areas that could be improved upon. Simplifying the plot, introducing more diverse characters, adjusting the pricing, and exploring new storytelling avenues could elevate the franchise to new heights. By addressing these critiques, the Sonic series could continue to capture the hearts of fans old and new alike.
