Recently, a leaked photo of Kitana’s fan from the upcoming Mortal Kombat 2 movie has caused quite a stir online. The shared image, revealed by series co-creator Ed Boon, showcases the Princess of Edenia’s iconic accessory. Boon confessed to breaking into producer Todd Garner’s phone during a screening of the film to obtain the image, joking that he can also leak stuff. Garner, in response to the leak, playfully called out Boon for beating him to the reveal.

During a panel at San Diego Comic-Con, the audience got a sneak peek at the upcoming movie, with Boon showcasing the image of Kitana’s fan. The film will focus on the story of Cole Young, the protagonist of the previous 2021 film. Adeline Rudolph will take on the role of Kitana, while Damon Herriman will portray Quan Chi. The sequel, directed by Simon McQuoid, will also feature returning cast members such as Lewis Tan, Jessica McNamee, Josh Lawson, Tadanobu Asano, and Mehcad Brooks. Additionally, new faces will join the cast, including Karl Urban as Johnny Cage, Tati Gabrielle as Jade, Marytn Ford as Shao Kahn, Desmond Chiam as King Jerrod, and Ana Thu Nguyen as Sindel.

Apart from the movie details, NetherRealm Studios revealed a new batch of DLC characters during San Diego Comic-Con. The Khaos Reigns expansion will introduce six fighters, with three hailing from the Mortal Kombat franchise and the remaining three from iconic movies of the 1980s and ’90s, such as Ghost Face. Fans can look forward to exploring these new additions in the game.

Fans of the franchise can mark their calendars as Mortal Kombat 2 is set to hit theaters on October 24, 2025. The movie will also be available in IMAX theaters, promising an immersive viewing experience for audiences. With an exciting blend of new characters, familiar faces, and an intriguing storyline, Mortal Kombat 2 is shaping up to be a must-watch for fans of the franchise.
