Meta, formerly known as Facebook, has announced the launch of a new app called Layout for its Quest 3 headsets. This utility app is designed to allow users to take measurements and visualize changes in their home environment. This app will be included as part of the v68 update for Quest 3 headsets.

One of the key features of the Layout app is the ability to measure furniture in your home. Users can use this feature to determine how much space they have available for new items such as couches or TVs without the need for a tape measure. Additionally, the app allows users to place virtual objects in their real-world environment and offers a leveling tool to ensure that pictures are hung up straight.

Meta has also integrated its experimental AI assistant into the Layout app. This AI assistant, which is already available on the company’s Ray-Ban smart glasses, allows users to ask questions about their surroundings. For example, users can ask for fashion advice on what shirt would pair well with a new pair of pants. However, it is worth noting that this feature is currently only available in English and limited to users in the US and Canada.

In addition to the Layout app, the v68 update for Quest 3 headsets includes several other enhancements. Users will now have the ability to download multiple games simultaneously and manage them from a new “Downloads” tab in their library. Meta has also added the option to pair Touch controllers directly from the headset, as well as new audio-level balance tools for improved user experience.

Overall, the launch of the Layout app for Quest 3 headsets brings exciting new features and functionality to Meta’s VR platform. With the ability to measure and visualize changes in their home environment, as well as access to an AI assistant for real-world assistance, users can enjoy an enhanced virtual reality experience. The v68 update also introduces additional improvements that aim to streamline the user experience and make gaming on Quest 3 headsets more convenient.
