Samsung is set to revolutionize the kitchen appliance industry once again with its highly anticipated release of the 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator with AI Family Hub+. This smart fridge boasts an array of cutting-edge AI features that aim to enhance the user experience. With an internal camera that can identify individual food items and a connected app that suggests recipes based on your inventory, Samsung is pushing the boundaries of what a refrigerator can do. The company plans to unveil this groundbreaking innovation at the Consumer Electronics Show (CES) next year.

Previous models of Samsung smart fridges have already incorporated AI-powered cameras and recipe generation features. However, the 2024 model takes these capabilities to the next level. The upgraded internal camera and the Family Hub app now offer more advanced features to cater to users’ needs. The Samsung Food app, accessible directly on the fridge via the Family Hub, seamlessly connects to your Samsung Health profile and tailors recipes based on your dietary preferences. The improved “Image to Recipe” feature, powered by better Vision AI, can recognize meals and food items from photographs and provide corresponding recipes. Additionally, the Personalize feature offers tailored recipes for various dietary preferences, including gluten-free, pescatarian, dairy-free, vegan, fusion, and more.

While the AI capabilities of Samsung’s new smart fridge are undeniably impressive, it does have its limitations. The Vision AI feature can currently identify up to 33 food items, so it may not recognize more exotic ingredients. However, users have the option to manually enter expiration dates on the Family Hub touchscreen, which prompts the fridge to send notifications just before individual items expire. This feature ensures that users can keep their food fresh and minimize wastage.

Reflecting on the evolution of Samsung’s smart fridges, it is evident that both smart home technology and AI have come a long way. In a review of the 2016 fridge by The Verge, it was noted that while the Family Hub apps were slow to load and the touchscreen was not optimal, the inclusion of cameras that allowed users to peek inside the fridge without opening the door was a significant advancement. Fast forward to the present, Samsung’s marketing strategy for the 2024 model highlights its AI features as the centerpiece of the wider Samsung ecosystem, including other AI kitchen products like the AI oven.

Looking beyond just the smart fridge, Samsung’s innovation extends to other kitchen appliances as well. In addition to the 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator, Samsung has also announced the launch of the 2024 model of its cooktop, aptly named the Anyplace Induction Cooktop. This cooktop includes a slide-in range, allowing users to seamlessly integrate it between their kitchen cabinets. Equipped with a seven-inch LCD screen, the cooktop can display recipes directly from the Samsung Food app, providing users with real-time cooking guidance and convenience.

The Dawn of a New Era in Smart Kitchen Appliances

Samsung’s commitment to pushing the boundaries of AI technology in kitchen appliances is evident in its latest offerings. The 2024 Bespoke 4-Door Flex Refrigerator and the Anyplace Induction Cooktop are poised to revolutionize the way we interact with our kitchen spaces. With features like internal cameras, AI recipe generation, and seamless integration with other Samsung devices, these appliances represent a new era of smart kitchen technology. As we eagerly anticipate their official release, it is clear that Samsung’s innovation is set to transform our daily cooking experiences for the better.
