Sonos is set to release a new and improved version of its Roam wireless AirPlay 2 and Bluetooth speaker in June. According to Bloomberg’s Mark Gurman, the company has made hardware adjustments to address Bluetooth connectivity issues that users have experienced with the speaker. Additionally, Sonos will be launching a new app specifically designed for its portable speakers to enhance user experience.

New High-End Headphones Rumored

In addition to the updated Roam speaker, rumors are circulating about Sonos releasing a pair of high-end headphones priced at $449. The new app that will be launched alongside the Roam speaker is expected to also support these headphones. However, users may have to wait for the Move 1 and 2 models, as well as the first-generation Roam, to receive support, as the company has faced challenges in optimizing the software for these devices.

The original Roam speaker received mixed reviews, with some users noting shortcomings such as the lack of stereo pairing over Bluetooth and concerns about the long-term durability of the battery. The new Roam model is expected to feature topside touch controls similar to those found on the Era 100 and 300 speakers, addressing some of the issues raised by users and reviewers.

In addition to the new Roam speaker and app, Sonos has ambitious plans for expanding its product lineup. Reports suggest that the company is working on a TV set-top box and updated versions of the Sub, Era 100, and Sonos Arc soundbar. These new products are part of Sonos’ efforts to strengthen its hardware revenue and continue to innovate in the audio technology market.

Overall, Sonos’ upcoming releases and improvements demonstrate the company’s commitment to providing high-quality audio products that meet the needs and preferences of its customers. With the launch of the new Roam speaker and app, as well as the rumored high-end headphones and other upcoming products, Sonos is poised to remain a key player in the tech and entertainment industry.
