When it comes to gaming PCs, storage often takes a backseat, especially during Black Friday sales. You may find yourself captivated by the impressive specifications and discounts, only to be disappointed by the limited SSD size. While a 1TB SSD may seem sufficient for casual gaming, modern titles like Baldur’s Gate 3 can easily consume over 100GB of space. However, Best Buy has a CyberPowerPC rig priced at $899.99 that not only offers ample storage but also comes with an RTX 4060 Ti, capable of running most games. Nevertheless, it’s important to note that the 4060 Ti is not the best graphics card available, taking into account its comparatively higher cost when compared to AMD’s RX 6700 XT. Although the bundled deal mitigates some of the concerns, it’s possible that the price of the 4060 Ti may decrease further in the future.

In our comprehensive review of the RTX 4060 Ti, we found that it could comfortably maintain around 60 frames per second (fps) at 1080p resolution for games like Red Dead Redemption 2 and Far Cry 6, even at high settings. However, when ray tracing is enabled in demanding titles such as Cyberpunk 2077 and Metro Exodus, the frame rates drop to the 30s and 40s. With higher resolutions like 1440p and 4K, the 4060 Ti struggles without utilizing Nvidia’s DLSS 3 and Frame Generation, which leverage AI-powered upscaling. Although enabling these features allows for surprisingly playable 4K gaming at around 30 to 40 fps, it’s clear that the performance is less than ideal for enthusiasts seeking the highest graphical fidelity.

On the other hand, the Ryzen 7 5700 processor included in the CyberPowerPC rig is quite competent. Essentially a slightly lower clocked version of the 5700G APU, this chip offers eight cores for a powerful processing experience. While the performance of both chips is similar, it’s worth considering that the Ryzen 7 5700 lacks support for PCIe 4.0, which may limit your ability to add the best SSDs available in the market. Another aspect to consider is the 16GB of DDR4 memory included with this PC, which may be considered relatively low for users who intend to engage in more than just gaming. For a more well-rounded PC experience, we recommend opting for 32GB of RAM. Fortunately, the current RAM prices are not exorbitant, and you can always upgrade in the future.

While the CyberPowerPC rig does have its limitations, it’s important to highlight the exceptional value it provides for under $1,000. It’s remarkably challenging to find a PC at this price point that offers sufficient SSD storage, alleviating the need for constant library management every time you install a new game. Furthermore, despite the aforementioned trade-offs, the other components of this PC are solid, ensuring a decent gaming experience. Additionally, it’s worth noting that the package includes a keyboard and mouse, although it may be prudent to consider upgrading to higher-quality peripherals.

The CyberPowerPC rig offers an enticing option for gamers seeking an affordable yet capable gaming PC. While the limited graphics performance of the RTX 4060 Ti and the relatively low amount of RAM may be stumbling blocks for some, the overall value provided by this package cannot be overlooked. With ample storage space and a competent processor, this PC caters to gamers who prioritize a suitable balance between price and performance. As always, it’s essential to carefully evaluate your specific needs and preferences before making a purchasing decision, ensuring that the CyberPowerPC rig aligns with your expectations as a gamer.
