Kia has recently unveiled the finalized version of its EV3 small electric SUV, which comes equipped with a groundbreaking feature – AI technology. This innovative vehicle was initially introduced as a concept model last year, and it is set to launch in South Korea in July, followed by a release in Europe later in the year. While there is confirmation of the EV3 eventually making its way to the US market, specific timing details have not been announced yet.
One of the standout features of the Kia EV3 is its voice-activated AI assistant, a first for production EVs from Kia. This advanced AI technology, derived from ChatGPT but heavily modified, enables users to perform various tasks such as trip planning, finding entertainment options, and more. Initially launching in Korea before expanding to Europe, this AI assistant is sure to enhance the overall driving experience for EV3 owners.
The Kia EV3 boasts an estimated driving range of 600km (approximately 373 miles) based on the European WLTP system, with the US EPA estimate expected to be slightly lower. The long-range model of the EV3 features an 81.4kWh battery, while a ‘Standard’ model with a 58.3kWh battery is also in the works. Additionally, Kia plans to introduce a sportier ‘GT-line’ model for those seeking a more dynamic driving experience. With a zero to 100km acceleration time of 7.5 seconds and a powertrain based on Hyundai’s E-GMP platform, the EV3 promises impressive performance capabilities.
Inside the EV3, drivers will find a sophisticated tech setup, including dual 12.3-inch screens for the instrument cluster and infotainment system, a five-inch panel for HVAC controls, and a 12-inch heads-up display. Furthermore, the integration of premium streaming apps powered by LG’s webOS-based auto platform provides additional entertainment options for passengers. The ability to customize dashboard themes, including NBA-inspired designs, adds a personalized touch to the driving experience.
On the exterior, the design of the EV3 draws inspiration from Kia’s larger EV9 model, featuring a spacious interior capable of accommodating five passengers comfortably. The innovative storage solutions, such as a sliding table for laptops and a 25-liter frunk due to the absence of a front gas engine, ensure practicality and convenience for everyday use.
