2024 is set to be a monumental year for fans of the live-action Sonic The Hedgehog franchise. With the recent premiere of the Knuckles miniseries on Paramount+ and the highly anticipated release of Sonic The Hedgehog 3 in theaters during the holiday season, there is certainly a lot to look forward to. However, according to Knuckles showrunner and executive producer Toby Ascher in an interview with GamesRadar+, it seems like this may just be the beginning of even more adventures for Sega’s iconic characters.

As Ascher hinted at more Sonic spin-offs to come, the speculation is high on who could be next in line for their own show. One popular theory is that Shadow the Hedgehog may be the next character to step into the spotlight. With his live-action debut already teased in the mid-credits scene of Sonic the Hedgehog 2 and a prominent role set for him in Sonic The Hedgehog 3, Shadow seems like the logical choice. Not to mention, the casting of Keanu Reeves as the voice of Shadow in the upcoming film has fans buzzing with excitement.

Exploring New Characters

While Shadow appears to be the frontrunner for a spin-off show, there are plenty of other characters in the Sonic universe that could also have solo potential. Characters like Rouge the Bat, Amy Rose, Blaze the Cat, and even Metal Sonic could all be interesting choices for their own series. However, it may be a while before we see any of these characters make their live-action debut. Fans may have to exercise patience as the franchise continues to expand and introduce new elements to the story.

With Sonic The Hedgehog 3 hitting theaters on December 20 and the Knuckles miniseries now available on Paramount+, the future looks bright for the Sonic universe. As Ascher mentioned, there is a solid plan in place for the growth of these characters, and the success of the Knuckles miniseries has opened up the possibility for more in-depth character studies in the future. While the specific details of upcoming spin-offs remain a mystery, one thing is certain – Sonic and his friends are here to stay, and their adventures are far from over.
