In the world of PC cooling solutions, fans have always been the standard. However, a recent experiment by Sodabaka on their Bilibili channel has changed the game by spinning the entire PC itself to generate airflow. While this may sound like a creative idea, the results were both humorous and ineffective.

Sodabaka started the experiment by using an older Sandy Bridge era i5 2500K Mini-ITX system with a tower heatsink. The PC was placed into a centrifuge and spun at what appeared to be around three revolutions per second. This unconventional method of cooling led to some serious overheating issues, with temperatures reaching up to 100 degrees Celsius and causing the system to throttle.

Undeterred by the initial failure, Sodabaka then tried a larger Noctua NH-P1 passive cooler with and without a small fan attached. While this setup performed slightly better, it still reached the critical temperature of 100 degrees. To further enhance the cooling, 3D-printed fan blades were attached to the motherboard tray and the RPM was increased. However, the addition of a full face mask and protective riot shield made it clear that this method was impractical and dangerous.

Despite the creative efforts of Sodabaka, the experiment ultimately ended in disaster. The sheer weight of the NH-P1 cooler caused it to be flung off the spinning PC, effectively destroying the system. This amusing yet cautionary tale serves as a reminder that traditional cooling methods, such as fans, remain the most reliable option for PCs.

While the idea of spinning a PC for cooling may seem innovative, the reality is that it is far from a practical solution. The experiment conducted by Sodabaka highlighted the importance of sticking to tried and tested cooling methods to prevent overheating and potential damage to the system. As entertaining as the video may be, it is essential to prioritize the functionality and longevity of your PC over experimental gimmicks.
