However, if we exclude China from the equation, PC volumes in the rest of the world have grown by over 5%. This indicates a healthy demand for PCs in other regions outside of China.
Lenovo, one of the leading PC manufacturers, has managed to slightly increase its market share to 22.7%, solidifying its position at the top. HP follows closely behind with a market share of 21.1%, while Dell has slipped to third place with a 15.5% market share. The shift in market dynamics can be attributed to the growing popularity of laptops over desktops, with Lenovo being a key player in the laptop segment.
Aside from the major players like Lenovo, HP, and Dell, smaller brands have experienced a slight decline in sales. However, Apple has managed to capture an 8.8% share of the market, thanks in part to its MacBook sales. The growth of AI-powered PCs has also been highlighted as a contributing factor to the overall increase in PC sales.
While the current trends in the PC market are positive, there are still challenges on the horizon. IDC warns against being overly optimistic, citing maturity and headwinds in the market as potential obstacles. The PC market, like other technology sectors, faces uncertainties that could impact future growth.
As for the gaming PC market, the overall outlook remains stable. While the traditional desktop PC may be losing ground to laptops, gaming PCs are expected to remain a niche player in the market.
