Disney Speedstorm, a kart-racing game, has gained popularity due to its great racing mechanics and regular seasonal content updates. However, the game has been plagued by an overly complex and confusing progression system. Currently, players have to deal with a shared pool of upgrade resources that can be used by all racers at lower levels. As players advance to higher levels, each franchise within the game has its own specialized upgrade materials, adding up to nearly 80 unique upgrade materials.

Developer Gameloft has announced a major overhaul of the progression system starting with Season 7. The new system will introduce a single upgrade currency called Upgrade Coins, replacing the multiple specialized materials. All current upgrade materials will be converted to the new currency, making it easier for players to understand what they need to upgrade their favorite racers. This change aims to streamline the upgrade process and eliminate the confusion caused by the multitude of materials.

With the introduction of Upgrade Coins, players will no longer have to worry about collecting specific materials for each character. This will prevent players from receiving unwanted materials and make the progression system more user-friendly. Additionally, the new system will provide clarity on the cost of each upgrade level, allowing players to plan their upgrades more effectively.

While the update addresses the complexity of the progression system, it does not solve all the issues within the game. The random nature of unlocking new racers remains frustrating, especially for players looking to complete season passes that require specific racers. The update is a step in the right direction, but there is still room for improvement in terms of enhancing player experience and reducing frustration.

Season 7 of Disney Speedstorm is set to start in April, bringing with it the implementation of the new progression system. Although Gameloft has not revealed the theme of the new expansion, players can anticipate the addition of one new themed track and four new Disney racers. The current season, “Under the Sea,” features characters such as Ariel, Prince Eric, King Triton, and Ursula.

The overhaul of the progression system in Disney Speedstorm is a welcome change that aims to simplify the upgrade process and improve player experience. By introducing a single upgrade currency and streamlining the materials required for upgrades, Gameloft has taken a step in the right direction towards creating a more enjoyable gaming experience for players. As Season 7 approaches, players can look forward to a more cohesive and user-friendly progression system that will enhance their gameplay experience.
