The highly anticipated mod, Fallout: London, has been in development for an astonishing five years. This ambitious project aims to transport players into a post-apocalyptic version of London, offering a new and unique experience within the Fallout universe. Despite facing some setbacks, the dedicated team behind Fallout: London remains committed to delivering a polished and memorable gaming experience.

Fallout: London immerses players in the vast and desolate wasteland of the UK, featuring iconic boroughs such as Camden, Croydon, Westminster, and Hackney. As players traverse this devastated landscape, they will encounter familiar landmarks like Tower Bridge and the Houses of Parliament, each transformed into haunting remnants of their former glory. The developers have painstakingly recreated London’s atmosphere, ensuring that players will encounter all the quintessential British elements, from pubs and tube stations to buses and telephone boxes.

The scale of Fallout: London is truly impressive. The mod boasts a world equivalent in size to Fallout 4’s original Commonwealth and its Far Harbor DLC combined. This expansive playground provides players with countless hours of exploration and adventure. With a team of over 50 core developers and more than 200 contributors, the mod is content-complete, offering players new weapons, clothes, animations, and objects. Additionally, players can expect to discover seven unique settlements, each with its own distinct characteristics and challenges.

Originally intended for release in 2023, Fallout: London unfortunately faced unforeseen delays. The modding team, known as Team FOLON, took to TwiXer to announce that the delay was due to their scripting team operating in a region affected by conflict. In order to achieve the desired level of polish and testing, the team made the difficult decision to postpone the release. They emphasized their commitment to providing players with a flawless experience, avoiding the issues that have plagued other community or industry projects in recent times.

Team FOLON acknowledged the significance of a successful first release, stating that they only have one chance to make a lasting impression. Their prudence in opting for a delay demonstrates their dedication to delivering a memorable Fallout: London experience. April 24th, St. George’s Day, has been chosen as the new release date, allowing the team to finalize testing and coinciding with the premiere of Amazon’s Fallout TV show. It is a fitting day for players to embark on their radioactive adventure across the pond.

While Team FOLON remains committed to their vision, they made it clear that they have no plans to release Fallout: London for Bethesda’s upcoming free “next-gen” Fallout 4 update. They stated that they cannot foresee the changes that Bethesda may implement, indicating that compatibility may be an issue. Nonetheless, the Fallout: London team continues to work tirelessly on their mod, ensuring a seamless experience for players exploring the post-apocalyptic ruins of London.

The anticipation surrounding Fallout: London is palpable, as players eagerly wait to dive into a new Fallout adventure set in the iconic city of London. Despite the challenges faced by the development team, their commitment to delivering a polished and immersive experience shines through. As April 24th approaches, players can look forward to embarking on a radiation-infused journey across the sprawling wasteland of Fallout: London.
